Welcome to your weekly encouragement note!
Academic advisors are rarely able to provide the level of support students need, and that’s why so many graduate students struggle.
As your academic coach, our work together is my top priority! We’ll develop personalized strategies and systems of support so you can thrive in your graduate program!

Completing a graduate degree requires endurance.
But there are some things that help with that endurance.
To succeed in a PhD program, you don’t need an abusive advisor who has all the accolades and publications.
You need an advisor who supports and nourishes your scholarly growth as you become your own researcher.
People don’t grow in abusive environments. They wither.
With the right people, your program will feel less like stepping on a path of Legos and more like a kitchen where you’re cooking up a dish that requires chopped onions. You will probably cry, but it won’t be for the whole time, and hopefully not because of your supportive advisor.
Let the tears fall. Let the joy flow. You deserve to be surrounded by the right people.
Checking in with y’all, how are you doing? Let me know in the comments!
